After watching Claire and Phil Dunphy’s hilarious and completely relatable spat over wedge salad, I just had to see what all the fuss was about. If you don’t know I’m referring to, you have got to check out one of the best shows, Modern Family. Specifically, Season 2 Episode 16: Regrets Only. Oh, heck. Who am I kidding? Watch all the episodes! Multiple times! They get better each and every time you re-watch them, too!
So while out a restaurant with some girl friends, I saw Wedge Salad on the menu and went for it. And I had no clue what to expect. A wedge salad? So it’s literally a wedge of a head of lettuce! Nice! All dressed up with cucumbers and carrots and bacon and bleu cheese dressing. With a huge knife sticking out of it to help you cut up the wedge. I’m not really a big fan of bleu cheese but that didn’t stop me. And wow. Was it good!!
Just like the couple in the show, I was so excited to share this delicious wonder with my own spouse. I couldn’t wait to take a trip back to the restaurant, so instead picked up the ingredients on a grocery trip. Not quite sure how you can mess up a salad, but it wasn’t quite the same. It was pretty close. I think I just didn’t dry the lettuce enough after washing it.
But all in all, Skip Woosnam was right. It’s one of the greatest things. Oh and Claire, yes she should get credit, too.
