Our About page has been updated to better reflect how I cook, plan, and develop recipes—and I wanted to share a few highlights here.
I cook homemade meals for two, about five nights a week. On average, that looks like a mix of:
- New and existing recipes two to three times per week
- Leftovers two to three times per week
To make that rhythm work, I rely on simple meal-planning tools:
- Monthly calendar
- Weekly meal planner
For inspiration, I keep a well-loved collection of:
- Cookbooks
- Recipe cards
- Recipe books
- Recipe binders
Those books and binders are filled with handwritten notes, tweaks, and reminders. This blog is the living version of those notes—an online recipe collection I can revisit, edit, and refine again and again.
Ultimately, Recipe Realism reflects my:
- approach to recipes
- experiences with cooking
- musings from the kitchen
- reviews of products and gadgets I use and love
- elements I desire from recipe websites but do not often see
My recipes focus on:
- Pasta
- Vegetarian recipes
- Gluten-free recipes
- Vegetarian + gluten-free combinations
- Recipes with no red meat
- Meals that make great leftovers or freeze well
Many of these recipes are shaped not just by personal health goals, but by the people I cook for. With friends and family who eat gluten-free and/or vegetarian, I’m often asking: Can this recipe work for more dietary needs and preferences?
Finding dishes that work for mixed-diet gatherings—potlucks, cookie exchanges, or holiday meals—has become a fun challenge. I like to think of this space as a bridge between omnivore, vegetarian, and gluten-free kitchens.
If that sounds like your kind of cooking, you’re in the right place.
The Recipe Realism Approach

These are my intentions. Recipe blogging is an ever-evolving process, and these highlights reflect where I am right now. I’m glad you’re here—follow along with the journey on Recipe Realism.
